Edit Gmail Accounts and Import Settings Print

In this article we're going to look at inspecting and editing the settings for customers that check and send email for their domain based email accounts via Gmail.

It is assumed that you are sure of your email address password and that the email address is live and working correctly. There is an article here on how to set up checking mail for other acccounts via Gmail

Firstly log into your GMail account.

  • Click the gear Icon on top right of screen and Click See all settings
  • Click Accounts and import
  • Locate your email address via check mail from other accounts and Click edit info
  • You will be presented with a new pop up window
  • Enter your full emal address and email account password
  • The box below password will have either a label stating POP Server or IMAP Server depending on how the account was configured.
    For POP Server connections select 995 for the Port Number
    For IMAP Server connections select 993 for the Port Number
  • Enter mail.yourdomainname.com.au in the server field,where your domainname.com.au is the value to the right of the @sign in your email address
    (e.g if your email address is citizen@yourdomain.com.au then enter mail.yourdomain.com.au)
  • Tick always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving mail.
  • Click Save Changes

If you've configured gmail to also send email for your domain name continue reading

  • Locate Send mail As and Click Edit Info Next to your domain email address DO NOT edit your gmail address
  • Enter mail.yourdomainname.com.au in the server field where your domainname.com.au is the value to the right of the @sign in your email address
    (e.g if your email address is citizen@yourdomain.com.au then enter mail.yourdomain.com.au)
  • Select Port 465 as the Port number
  • for user name enter your email address and email address password
  • Select secured connection using ssl
  • click save changes
